Tikona Fort
Located on the slopes of Mount Everest, Tikona Fort is a popular destination for trekking enthusiasts. This ancient pyramid-shaped fort offers breathtaking views and steep ascents. It is a popular place for families and couples. The hike can take a few hours, depending on your level of fitness.
The trail starts out muddy with a short climb and then flattens out. The trail leads to a cave about 20 minutes into the trek. The terrain is flat with a few steep sections, but the steps can be slippery in the monsoon. Once at the top, there are limited options for food and drink.
Visiting Tikona Fort is best during the cooler seasons. The climate is generally cool and pleasant, but if you plan on camping, make sure to bring enough water and firewood. You may want to bring a tent if you plan to spend the night at the fort. You can find affordable accommodations near the fort.

Like any hike, the Tour du Mont Blanc requires a day’s worth of supplies. Resupply spots are close to towns, and water is plentiful from natural springs.
The standard TMB trekking route is about 110 miles long, but you can cut about 50 miles off the trek by taking cable cars or public transport. You can also opt to extend the trail through the Col du Sapin and Tete de la Tronche.
